I am in the process of getting my basement finish. I would like to know what color should i paint the walls and what type of carpet would go well. I was thinking of like a slate blue for the walls and gray/blue berber carpet. tell me what you think. Or should i just go with the safe white walls beige carpet? The basement is small and I may need to rent it out in the future. thanks a million

I live in South Mississippi and have a house on a slab with a basement underneath it, therefore the ceiling of the basement is concrete and it is a very safe structure. I am contemplating moving to Arkansas and am looking at a house with a conventional crawl space type foundation. It also has a basement under it but, I am concerned how safe this type of basement would be in a tornado. Does anyone have any experience or research information that could help ease my fears or would it be best to try and find another house.

For everyone who doesn't know: a michigan basement is a partially "dug-out" basement. Not finished off, usually with dirt walls & floor sometimes partially "finished" with cement or cinder blocks and a cement floor.
I am looking at purchasing a home and I found one I like, with the exception of the michigan basement.

I know there are a few of them floating around.
I have a linksys wireless B PCI card (WMP11 v4) and am running Ubuntu 7.04 (Fiesty Fawn).
